On the way back from a very hearty lunch, I smelled my own breath because I was killing it in the solo car karaoke, a timeless classic by Adele. Perfect for a lazy rainy day like this.
I’m not a singer, but
NEVER MIND I’LL FIIIINNNNNNNDD
But just as my self esteem rode the key straight to the clouds, a strong garlic scent entered my brain and brought my ego rocket right back down towards the ground. I let Adele do her thing for the rest of the song.
I suddenly remembered there’s a box of Altoids in the glove box! My cousin left it in there on the way back from the beach yesterday ‘coz he had needed to buy something so that the gas station attendant could give him the bathroom key so he could use the bathroom!
00:00.01
I located the latch opening of my glove box with my eyes.
00:00.62
I refocused my gaze back on the road.
00:01.15
Using my mental image, I reached for the glovebox while keeping eye contact on the road.
00:05.74
While keeping eye contact on the road, I flapped my right hand around in effort to feel the pull handle.
00:07.10
My ring finger slipped into the groove for the pull handle.
00:07.98
A little white Shih Tzu entered my peripheral vision as he dashed perpendicularly from the sidewalk, hopped over the storm drain and into the rain. His leash lengthened in the process.
00:08.56
I pressed on the brake, and my car slowed down to almost a full stop.
00:09.03
A guy on the sidewalk yanked the leash, the Shih Tzu was pulled back onto the sidewalk.
00:10.09
My brain registered that I would’ve run him over had I maintained speed.
00:10.50
Slowly passing the punk ass Shih Tzu, I looked out from my driver side window.
00:12.39
We locked eyes.
For a minute there. Time froze.
The neighbor’s wind charm stopped. Singing. Fears.
Dreams have gone bad on the shelf.
History just became irrelevant.
May we still have this one.
Last dance. As the winter chill rampaged through.
Mother’s hair. The delegation has spoken.
I’m guilty.
As charged. Forever and ever.
Underneath the sugar plum tree. Everything.
Makes no sense. Anymore. Everyone.
Walking away from the circle.
Wearing all black has never stopped you.
Can I get a number 2 with a large shake?
You’re only here to play a support role.
My wrist got stuck behind my back.
Again. He wakes up.
01:13.55
I looked at him like “bro wtf are you doing?”, hoping he understands my facial expression.
01:15.17
Two little beady black holes gazed back at me, and I think the message was something like, “I don’t know bro. Have you ever heard a ‘hello’ from the other side?”
02:08.67
With a smooth right turn I entered the freeway ramp. Not gonna lie I felt pretty proud of my quick reflex right there, otherwise my day would’ve been ruined.
